Tequila Fortaleza is a small-batch, handcrafted tequila made using the same traditional methods that our family has employed for over 140 years. We carefully select each agave plant for its ripeness before harvesting, followed by cooking in our small brick oven using steam. To extract the agave juices, we use a two-ton stone wheel known as a tahona, allowing for a gentle press. After adding volcanic mountain water from Tequila and separating the fibers, the musto undergoes fermentation for 3 to 5 days. The result is a distinctive tequila that is twice distilled in our very small copper pot stills, ensuring an authentic flavor profile.
Fortaleza Blanco represents the purest expression of our tequila line. Unaged, it offers a fresh, complex character with a creamy texture and a delightful finish that is smooth and gentle on the throat. The aroma and flavor profile features notes of cooked agave, slate, and minerals, alongside hints of vanilla, butter, and citrus. As you savor Fortaleza Blanco, you'll also detect the subtle spice of black pepper, the briny essence of black olives, and the sweetness of cream soda, complemented by herbaceous, floral, and nutty undertones, creating a beautifully layered tasting experience.
