The BenRiach Original Ten, a 10-year-old single malt from the 2020 core range, offers a delightful experience. Matured in a combination of bourbon barrels, sherry casks, and virgin oak casks, this whisky presents a rich profile of honeyed fruit and softly toasted oak, with just a touch of smoke. For those who prefer a peatier dram, The Smoky Ten is also available. This release highlights the skill of BenRiach's master blender, Dr. Rachel Barrie, and her team.
The nose reveals nectarine, honeydew melon, vanilla sponge with cream and jam, and a hint of cedar. The palate features baked goods such as croissants dipped in milky coffee, cinnamon rolls, creamy orchard fruits, and a subtle earthy peat. The finish is marked by nutty malt, vanilla pod, and lingering apricot.
