He prepares American oak casks by bathing them in a special blend of select West Indian rums, a concoction of his own crafting. Once these casks have sufficiently imbibed the rich spirit of the Caribbean, the rum is exchanged for the 14-year-old whisky. Now, the wood embarks on its true purpose—infusing this mature spirit with nuanced flavors.
The culmination of this process is a remarkable single malt. It carries The Balvenie's signature smooth, honeyed profile, but with new companions: hints of toffee, whispers of exotic fruit, and a resonating warmth that lingers.
